Lagna Ascendant

Since the Moolatrikona is stronger than the other constellation that a planet rules, benefic fifth house indications supersede those of the twelfth house here.  Many factors give Sagittarians a strong interest in spiritual matters: Sagittarius is the ninth house of the natural zodiac; the Sun (which represents the soul) is both lord and significator of the 9^th house in a Sagittarius ascendant; Jupiter, a significator for spirituality, is Lagna lord; and the Sun and Jupiter are mutual friends.  Jupiter is lord of the fourth house of happiness, which implies Sagittarians can derive happiness from spiritual pursuits.  Sagittarius is a lucky lagna, because the Sun rules the ninth house of fortune and lagna lord Jupiter is exalted in the eighth house (which protects against the loss of that good luck).
