1. Kendras: The first fourth, seventh and tenth house are called angles or kendra. Planets herein are deemed to be strong. Kendras houses 1, 4, 7, and 10 boost the power, action, and initiative of planets, and therefore can support greater success. For the Kendra (1, 4, 7, 10 and Kona (1, 5, 9) Houses it is particularly important what Grahas occupy them as these houses represent the most important areas of life

2. Angular House “Should one among Venus, Mercury or Jupiter be in an angular house (Kendra), all evils are destroyed as the Sun eliminates Darkness”.

   If you have Mercury, Jupiter or Venus in a Kendra (angular house) and Kona (Trinal house). This is most difficult to obtain and would cast a transcendental blessing on your whole life.

3. Trikonas: The first, fifth and the ninth houses are called trines or trikona. Lord of trines and planets placed therein are  considered good and strong. Trines, houses 1, 5, and 9 are the most fortunate houses, in that they represent blessings, opportunities, good fortune, wisdom, and spirituality, and planets in them and ruling them bring positive themes to the life.

4. Panapharas: The second, fifth, eighth and eleventh houses are called succedent or panaphara houses. Planets herein except the eighth are deemed fairly strong but not so strong as in the angles.

5. Apoklimas: The third, sixth, ninth and the twelfth are called cadent or apoklima houses. Planets herein except the ninth are considered weak, but malefic in the sixth are deemed to be well placed .

6. Upachaya Houses: The third, sixth, tenth and eleventh houses are called upachaya houses or increasing.

   Upachaya Houses teach hard lessons in poor relations and ill health (3, 6, 10, and 11) but do well when Malefics are placed in them.

   The Malefic quality is used in a positive way to bring about improvement and growth in life Malefic Planets do well in the 10th and 11th houses.
   These houses can handle Malefics and Benefics.The rest of the houses (2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9 and 12) favor Benefics. In those houses the normal principle applies where Malefics do harm and Benefics bring prosperity.

Dusthana / Trik Houses: The  sixth, eighth and  twelfth houses are called Dusthanas, Trikasthanas Trik or the Three Evil Ones.

Planets placed therein and planets which are lords thereof are not considered good.  These are the “bad” houses for planets to occupy. Houses 6, 8, and 12 govern many of the unpleasant themes of life:  debt, obstacles, loss, death, disease, anxiety, enemies, addiction and therefore planets ruling these houses embody challenging themes, as do planets occupying these houses
